I love these women-they are so liberated and brave and yet so normal.....

Peer pressure..media..and adverts are huge obstacles..only the Brave can conquer...something the Sikh Gurus consider very important for a Sikh to be - Brave and One of a Kind..NYARA...NOT a sheep in a crowd of sheep...just running along

It would be great if there were more clips of Sikh Kaurs flying the natural flag.

Why not start the trend and add your own video?

I actually like the fact these women are not Sikh as this is not an exclusively Sikh issue. All women are put down by the cosmetics/hair removal industry, media, peers and culture so why shouldn't others also rebel? The right to choose should be universal and not exclusive to us. The right dress and grooming is a woman's choice and I am glad it is not just Sikhs that recognise this. By constantly pigeon-holing ourselves we are pulling away from society rather than 1) integrating, and 2) not helping others to have the same freedoms from surroundings. I am a woman with hair as well as a Sikh so why not identify with other women even if they are non-Sikhs?

Good points Findingmyway ji, however I think Sikh females too need encouragement to keep their hair - the more who share, the more support there will be. Non-Sikhs can champion their natural form but Sikhs are going to listen to their own and if Kaurs are shaving and trimming then others will follow suit.

I've socialised with more hairy Pagan women than I ever have with hairy Sikh women :( In fact IRL I've spoken to more non-Keshdhari Sikh women than I have those who treasure their hair. It is usually evident by the manicured eyebrows and when you talk about kesh they say not to worry about it, the way Sikhs lived 'then' is not how Sikhs live now, etcetc... there is more respect for hair amongst the feminists than the Kaurs, in my experience.

Maybe I just haven't found the right sangat yet.

Anyway, kudos to you for keeping your hair sis peacesignkaur
