[QUOTE="Archived_member11, post: 142131, member: 14738"] Though the author was coming from a Christian background and mentioned what he sees as the problems in the West his commentary can apply to any religion or culture. He mentioned keeping people coming back to church. Dividing with us vs. them rhetoric and a few other things. "Gyanis" talk about hair more than experiencing bliss these days.Hindus though sharing almost all concepts as Sikhs if looked from certain standpoints we are told are horrible enemies of Sikhs. People are leaving religions all over the world and experimenting and seeking because they don't want enemies and don't see others as enemies. They are bored of fighting about hair and food and history. The Deras that are hated in many cases are serving the need for people who want to hear spiritual advice and inspiration and it scares the proud and weak orthodox who want power. Some have so much pride that they resort to violence and slander. Some Deras are beautiful and positive and loving and life affirming and the teachers are humble etc. and the orthodox anti-spiritual hate because people are attracted to something new.Sikhi needs to make itself meaningful to many people again and the mystics are doing just that. And no they aren't all trying to destroy Sikhism contrary to what Panthic.org pays lot's of money to try to make you believe.I'm all in support of change even if it's hard.Heartless kirtan and ritual are hardly enough for the first set of eyes.I love Sikhi.I love Sikhs.I love the Shabd Guru and I want to deeply experience what it says I can which quite frankly is more than I get at most Gurdwaras aka Panjabi community centers. If i offended anyone i apologize. I'm not saying you should go to a Dera or change your religion or cut your hair but I am saying you should do what it takes to go as deep as you can and not be afraid to learn from anything no matter what anyone says.I actually started keeping Kesh and tying a Dastaar after being impressed by someone I think is a Sant though he never speaks of such things.
