petitionary

If everything happens per Hukam, then what's the point of petitionary prayer or ardaas where something is asked for? If Waheguru is the inner-knower, and It provides everything all the time, how can my concentrated asking possibly influence the outcome of anything? Isn't it better to "pray"...
