118 year old Punjab resident passed away SAMEER KAURA Monday, 08 June 2009 PHAGWARA: S Diwan Singh (118) oldest resident of the area and head of more than one hundred family members of five generations breathed his last at his residence in daddal mohalla phagwara last night.He is survived by his one son and one daughter alongwith a large family of more than one hundred family members.Lakhbir Singh Grandson of the deceased, who was also father of three children told this correspondent that his grandfather had new teeth after the age of 100 years and his complete lower denture was found in the ashes.Dalip Chand (73) son of the deceased told that his father was quietly fit, and used to brush his teeth with “Datun” daily.His eyesight was quiet good even till last hour of his life.Diwan Singh was born in village Tonk Sidhwan in Gujjarwal district in Pakistan and migorated to Phagwara in 1947.Bhog Ceremony will be performed in Gurdwara Shaheedan from 12 noon to 1PM on Tuesday.
