੧ In our mother's womb, You blessed us with Your meditative remembrance, and You preserved us there. Through the countless waves of the ocean of fire, please, carry us across and save us, O Savior Lord! ||1||

Above interpretation and internet interpretation indicates that Guru sahib is referring to the fetus but I have always wondered how can the fetus, which is not even yet breathing, let alone having a brain or mouth, do Simran. Above all what is the message Guru sahib wants to convey us through this pankti. Or does Simran here have a meaning different from what we understand. Does Simran here mean existence/living according to Hukam or Divine commands, i.e. laws of nature. Or guru sahib really referring to fetus in this pankti.

I searched and found 'maat garab' is being referred in gurbani at 13 places. - casual reading of this pankti will enquire what link kaam krodh lobh has with 'maat garab' in this pankti. Thus as per my understanding 'maat garab' stands for 'in the midst of dilemma', it is inculcating the godly virtues which save us.

I look for other members feed back.
best regards
