Do you think it’s important that your neighbors know about Sikhs?
We believe that many of the challenges we face in this country are because most Americans don't know who we are and what we stand for.
To address this issue, we have produced a series of ground-breaking resources over the years to inform and educate our fellow Americans.
- On Common Ground Training Video – Co-produced by SALDEF and the Department of Justice, this cinema-quality training video on Sikh Americans is part of TSA’s mandatory training curriculum. In the first year alone, the video was viewed by 43,000 members of the TSA’s security screeners!
- Sikh Head Coverings and Kirpan Posters – These posters, developed by SALDEF for the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, represent the first government publications related to the Sikh articles of faith. Since their production, they have been recreated by various agencies and used to educate countless government workers, elected officials and the general public about Sikhs.
- Sikh American Pocket Calendars – In their eighth year of production, this pocket-sized resource provides basic info about Sikhs in a concise and appealing way. SALDEF has distributed over 350,000 calendars in English and Spanish over the years. Order your pack of 100 calendars today!
All these projects have been undertaken on a shoe-string budget. Help us increase the awareness of Sikhs in America by making a monthly contribution of:
* $100 – to distribute 300 copies of SALDEF’s On Common Ground training video
* $75 – to pay for a SALDEF staff to travel to a city and conduct a training session
* $50 – to provide FREE informational materials during a single training session
If educating non-Sikhs is important to you, consider supporting our small, but dedicated staff, to raise the level of awareness in this country so that future generations of Sikh Americans will grow up in a more fostering environment.
