That's powerful testimony from many disconnected sacred traditions. Through being attached to nothing as uniquely your own you come to possess all. Eastern Orthodox mystics say that one should never trust thoughts. According to the Hesychasts thoughts are not really you that is your deepest being. They are a distraction from your true self. In Orthodoxy the goal is to become aware of thoughts and then let them go and focus on your breathing. This way you begin to see thought-patterns that are pulling you in certain directions and keeping you from stillness within.
