Badal should aplogise for eulogizing a criminal: Khaira

BHOLATH(KAPURTHALA): Condemning Punjab Chief Minister’s Parkash Singh Badal statement at a public function at Begowal, senior leader of Punjab Congress and ex-MLA from Bholath, Sukhpal Singh Khaira demanded apology from Badal for eulogizing a sentenced criminal, Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Attending a function at Begowal in the memory of Late Sant Prem Singh Muralewale, the CM had publically praised Bibi Jagir Kaur for her services and prayed she was released early and serve as a minister again.
Jagir Kaur is currently facing rigorous imprisonment(RI) for five years in illegal abduction and forced abortion in daughter Harpreet Kaur’s murder case.
Objecting to Badal’s statement Khaira questioned what message was he conveying to Punjab youth eulogizing politicians like Jagir Kaur sentenced by court.
He even pointed that Badal’s hoping for Kaur’s early return as minister, amounted to influencing the course of justice as her and appeal of others convicted was pending before Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Khaira added that Badal has been shielding Kaur since beginning and due to political pressure exerted by him during his tenure as CM during 2000, neither FIR was registered nor post mortem was conducted. He had even flown and supervised the hurried funeral of Harpreet Kaur.
Khaira on behalf of Punjab Congress demanded CBI probe into Badal’s role in destruction of evidence and influencing course of justice.
