Re: Dr. Baldev Singh Is no more...Gyani jiI really appreciate this memorial article. Dr. Baldev Singh had to be one of my favorite writers on Sikhism from the pure power of his scholarship. No matter whether I agreed with him or not. Enormous credit is due him for his steadfast devotion to Sikhism which he demonstrated through an unflagging search for detail. logic, sources, and clear argument. It was clear to me from my first days studying Sikhi that Dr. Baldev Singh was a scholar through and through, in Sikhism and in any other field where he applied his heart and mind. Discovering what was true was important to him and he spared no one when a work was irresponsibly short on facts and logic, even his allies came under scrutiny. And he was never rude himself. Freedom to speak and question was another value he championed. As a Sikh that is right. Every article, long or short, was a testimony to the care he took because he CARED about Sikhism. What a loss! God bless his family.
