CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday admitted that corruption prevailed in his government and justified it saying that corruption has become a way of life in India. Not only Punjab, it is prevalent in all the states.
During his press conference here, a journalist has asked Badal about his pledge to give a corruption free government. Badal gave a turn to the issue and said that only five percent people in India might not be taking brines. "It is way of life", he said.
Badal was reminded about his announcement at the time of taking over reigns of government that all the MLA's of Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) would declare their assettes. Badal said that no MLA has so far given him the list of assetts. He further went on to say that it is not necessary that people always raise assetts from the bad money. There are so many ways of corruption and adjusting the money.
In reply to a question Badal said that no joint venture with any foreign country has been started in Punjab and no direct investment has been received by state. He was asked about the fate of so many MoU's signed by visiting foreign delegations who had shown interest to invest in Punjab. Similar statements were made by previsous foreign dignatories. Badal said that it is sort of routine that such delegations come to Chandigarh and they come to meet him.
