I personally don't understand this sentiment. In clinical research we have a HUGE emphasis on consent. The number of hours I spend on consent related issues for each research project I run is unbelievable! What google, facebook and the NSA are doing is without consent. Therefore it is not moral. How can it not be otherwise?
