I am wondering if you are asking about a lady who sang this tune? Or was she the one to whom it was sung? You already have the YouTube of RajKarega Khalsa. So I am not understanding -- or maybe this is private?????

GOT IT.....

HEAVY JACK??????????

YouTube - Heavy Jack - Bandits in the Night & Fly Away (Black Crow)

If this is correct, it took 5 seconds. But on the other hand -- it turns out that the black crow is a pretty popular image -- and "helps death take me away" in one song I have found on the net. Amazing!!

The video you posted on YouTube is astonishing!

The link I have posted is to a Shabad from Bani, by Bhagat Kabir. The begining has some talking then they sing the shabad. The way it is sung is amazing. I just want to know who sung it.

Hey Ekh Musafir, you consider yourself a world authority on music, who is this singing?

I prefer the one sung by Jagjit Singh

Rāg ga*oṛī.
Raag Gauree:

Panth nihārai kāmnī locẖan bẖarī lė usāsā.
The bride gazes at the path, and sighs with tearful eyes.

Ur na bẖījai pag nā kẖisai har ḏarsan kī āsā. ||1||
Her heart is not happy, but she does not retrace her steps, in hopes of seeing the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||1||

So fly away, black crow,

Says Kabeer, to obtain the status of eternal life, worship the Lord with devotion.

Bani by Kabir Ji

Sung by Jagjit Singh in his Album Madho Hum Aise tu Aisa

The Shabad describes the anguish of a bride longing for her husband given as an example to relate to for a seeker as to how to develop the feeling that will aid in the desire to meet God.

It is an example of devotion.

I do not follow your question otherwise.

Randip ji

I misunderstood your question. It sounded to me as if you wanted to know if there was a lady to whom the song was dedicated and I could not figure out how that fit with the raag. Totally off base am I today.

So who is this singing?

This is the answer -- I think, if I am understanding correctly. It is Bhai Harjinder Singh.

If you click on More Information next to the video you get the information about the song.

This Shabad is by Bhagat Kabeer Ji in Raag Gauree on Ang 337 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj:

pa(n)thh nihaarai kaamanee lochan bharee lae ousaasaa ||
The bride gazes at the path, & sighs with tearful eyes.

our n bheejai pag naa khisai har dharasan kee aasaa ||1||
Her heart is not happy, but she does not retrace her steps, in hope of seeing God.

ouddahu n kaagaa kaarae ||
Fly away, black crow.

baeg mileejai apunae raam piaarae ||1|| rehaao ||
so I may quickly meet my Beloved Lord. ||1||Pause||

kehi kabeer jeevan padh kaaran har kee bhagath kareejai ||
Says Kabir, to obtain status of eternal life, worship God with devotion.

eaek aadhhaar naam naaraaein rasanaa raam raveejai ||2||1||14||65||
God's Name is my only Support; my tongue chants God's Name.

I did a google search, and Bhai Surinder Singh Jodhpuri and Bhai Jagjit Singh are cited most frequently performing the raa.

If it is Bhai Harjinder Singh, he has some amazing people playing instruments around him and a fantastic voice.

Ekh Musafir, I do agree Jagjit Singh's version is goood, but this is good in a different way!

Here's another salok by Sheikh Fareed on crows.

Kāgā karang dẖandẖoli*ā saglā kẖā*i*ā mās.
The crows have searched my skeleton, and eaten all my flesh.
Ė ḏu*ė nainā maṯ cẖẖuha*o pir ḏėkẖan kī ās. ||91||
But please do not touch these eyes; I hope to see my Lord. ||91||
