Gill and Loi

Loi and Gill are both Jat Sikh surnames. The Loi clan are all descendants of the Gill Jat clan and they originate from Hoshairpur ( village Pandori Ganga Singh) in Punjab. Gill and Loi clan share the same ancestors and have the same heritage. The Lois were originally Gills, however during the Mughal empire invasion on Punjab, they decided to adopt a new surname as Loi. Today many mainly keep Loi, however some have decided to return to their original identity and original surname, as Gill. However the Loi clan is not widely known because only some of the Gills adopted Loi so there is not many. As a Gill myself I do know some Lois who are related to me and were originally Gills.
