Re: Guru Nanak Dev ji (Parkash November 21)The image posted with the images of Guru Nanak Ji with Bala and Mardana on one side and Guru Gobind Singh Ji on the other side with the year 1804 is not of a coin of the Sikhs but of a common religious token which is often mistaken for a coin. The regular coinage by the Sikh misls started in 1765 AD from Lahore, and the year on it was inscribed in Vikrami Samvat as 1822. The mint was inscribed as "Dar-al-Saltanat Lahore", the epithet "Dar-al-Saltanat" meaning "seat of sovereignty".The image of the coin is attached herewith for perusal by members.Gurprit Singh
