The funeral for Surinder Singh, who was shot to death last week while walking with a friend in Elk Grove, has drawn several hundred mourners this morning to a Sacramento funeral home.
Relatives, friends and community officials from Elk Grove are at the North Sacramento Funeral Home on El Camino Way to pay their last respects to the 65-year-old who died on south Stockton Boulevard while walking with his friend Gurmej Atwal, 78.
Authorities are investigating the March 4 shooting, which left Atwal in critical condition, as a hate crime.
Today's ceremony for Singh is subdued compared to a Friday night candlelight vigil held at the site of the shooting, near Green Pointe Drive.
