Wednesday 8th of November 2006
Panthic Weekly News Bureau

Nawashahar, Punjab (KP) - The notorious Police-Cat, Ajit Poohla, and his associates have been cleared of murder charges by an Indian court, shocking the various human rights organizations who had tirelessly worked to have Poohla convicted. The verdict was announced by Nawashehar District court Judge PS Virk.

Poohla and his associates were charged for the murder of Sukhdev Singh Nihang, son of Subhash Chand of Ghumann Khurd Gurdaspur. The Judge dropped the charges after the conclusion that there was insufficient evidence against Poohla and his eight bodyguards.

Poohla claimed that there was a long standing dispute between the complainants Balvir Singh, and two other individuals both named Piara Singh. He claimed that he was framed in this murder case due to the dispute with the above individuals.

Poohla complained that he has files of complaints against Col. GS Sandhu with the government, and is disappointed that the government has not taken actions against the Colonel. Col. Sandhu spearheaded the movement to free several Gurdwara Sahibs from Poohla’s clutches and exposed Poohla’s misdeeds to the Sikh community.

Poohla claimed that he has fought against anti-nationalist elements and that he was a true “desh bhagat” (patriot), meaning he worshipped the nation of India which was responsible for the slaughter of thousands of innocent Sikh men, women and children.

The courthouse where Poohla was present, was being protected by DSP Gurmukh Singh Cheema, and individuals were being kept at a distance of 200 meteres from the courthouse out fear of an attack.

Ajit Poohla, and his eight bodyguards Onkar Khassi, Karnail Sinh, Gurmel Sinh, Balwinder Sinh, Gurdial Sinh, Rashpal Sinh, Lakha Sinh, Gurbachan Sinh were all acquitted of the murder charges.

Khalsa Missal Shaheedan Tarna Dal Baba Deep Singh spokesman Jathedar Swarnjit Singh, in a press conference, stated that he was disappointed with the court’s decision. “We did not get justice in this murder case, so we will move this case to Punjab-Haryana High courts.”
