A day after announcing plans to hold a "Sarbat Khalsa" to take up the recent controversial directives of Akal Takht, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Paramjit Singh Sarna has decided to call the gathering a "world Sikh convention".
Sarna said the decision was taken on the advice of certain Sikh scholars and leaders, who called him up after reading a report regarding his decision in HT. He said all Sikh religious bodies and leaders would be invited to the convention, including the five Sikh high priests and the Shiromani Akali Dal led by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The convention would debate the changes effected in the Nanakshahi Calendar and the excommunication of former Akal Takht Jathedar Prof Darshan Singh Ragi from the Sikh community.
