Local teachers, school principals, and school district superintendents are invited to learn more about the culture, history, and religion of Sikh-Americans at an April 9 seminar being held at a Sikh temple in West Sacramento.
This seminar comes during an intense time for many local Sikhs after an elderly Sikh man was shot and killed in Elk Grove during his daily walk earlier this month. Several Sikh community members are working to educate non-Sikhs about their culture and faith.
The seminar runs from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and there will be a complimentary lunch served at 11:30 a.m. No fees will be charged.
Women are advised to bring headscarves to wear before entering the temple as per Sikh custom.
Seminar seating is on a carpet floor, but chairs will be provided to those who prefer using them.
Guests must send an RSVP by emailing Dr. Onkar Singh Bindra at osbindra@yahoo.com and copying pardeep@bangainc.com by March 30. Information such as the guest’s name, title, school/office, and work email address are also requested.
The seminar takes place Saturday, April 9 at the Sikh Temple of Sacramento at 2301 Evergreen Ave. in West Sacramento.
