A Tauranga man is flying home from India after the slaying of his wife and daughter.
The bodies of the 32-year-old woman and two-year-old girl were found at an Otumoetai home yesterday. A 23-year-old man has already been charged with the mother's murder, with more charges likely when he reappears in court later this week.
New Zealand Indian Central Association member Veer Khar says the large Sikh community in Tauranga will rally to support the woman's husband when he returns home. It is understood he has been in India on business since last week.
Meanwhile, Tauranga police say it has been a tough few days for neighbours of the victims. Western Bay of Plenty area commander Inspector Mike Clement says neighbours are distraught, but have been helpful to police.
