Eye for an eye, dog for a dog? Not quite. While most people would replace one canine with another, Harjinder Singh of Amritsar thought his missing pooch deserved better - he allegedly forced his 12-year-old maid and her friend to take the animal's place.
Kiran, who was employed by Singh to look after his ailing grandmother from Monday through Friday, was alone at home when the family dog disappeared. Kiran was oblivious of the loss till Singh came back. The furious owner blamed his hapless maid for the dog's escape and reportedly gave her a sound thrashing. But that obviously wasn't punishment enough.
Singh is believed to have tied up Kiran with the same chain that was used to restrain the dog.
