n yet another case of susepcted honour  killing, a man who had married an upper caste girl, was allegedly  abducted and killed by his in-laws, police said here today.

The  body of Raja Ram, a Majhabi Sikh, who had married Manjit Kaur, who  belonged to the Ramdasia sect, against the wishes of the latter's  family, was recovered from a railway track near Dhuri on Sunday, they  said.

Realising that tempers were running high in the girl's  family over their marriage, the deceased had taken a house on rent at  Sangrur and the couple had been living together.

On August 27 Raja Ram left his house to purchase vegetable from the market but didn't return.

Hari  Ram, father of the deceased, reported the matter to police alleging  that his son had been kidnapped by his daughter-in-law's uncle and his  associates.

Police have registered a case of kidnapping and  murder against the girl's family members after the youth's body was  recovered from the tracks yesterday.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Raja Ram' body was thrown at the track after he was murdered.

Raja  Ram's widow sought police protection apprehending danger to her life  before leaving Sangrur for the cremation of her husband at village  Ubhawal.
