Amritsar: If boarding a flight from Rajasansi International Airport, pay more from June 15. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has decided to levy User Development Fee from every passenger departing from Amritsar.
In a decision approved by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, any passenger boarding a domestic flight will have to pay Rs 150, whereas international passengers departing from Rajasansi will have to pay Rs 910 as the User Development Fee.
The Airport Authority of India has informed about the decision to the various airlines operating from Amritsar.
There are six domestic flights daily operating from Amritsar to New Delhi daily, whereas there are various flights connecting the holy city to Europe, Canada, USA, Middle-East and other key destinations.
This charge has been levied at various airports across the country earlier, but the passengers, who are already buying hefty tickets, have not welcomed this fee.
60 years is one hell of a long time in the history of a country when the growth and progress should have matched with rest of the world. And they are still having hard time managing Commonwealth Games this year. And especially at a time when neighboring China has successfully managed Olympics and not to mention world domination..........
Indian govt deliberately put up landing taxes for Amritsar to try and encourage airlines into Delhi instead,Last year, when many international airlines pulled out of flying to Amritsar they all blamed the deliberate hike in landing charges that the Indian government placed on Amritsar....simply because Delhi Airport was worried about losing the sheer amount of Punjab travellers it receives. And bear in mind that this same Indian government reduced the landing charges in states like Gujarat to try and help the local infastructure.
Anyway, because of the high charges a ticket to Amritsar from London costs on average $200 more than a ticket to Delhi...but because the demand for it is so high, still we are prepared to pay....more and more
Everytime there is an improvement in the world and a country takes steps forward, on the other hand India takes few steps backwards....
