Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin complained earlier of a lack of military equipment and supplies and improper treatment of its troops while fighting in Russia. He was replaced by Putin but before he could hand over Prigozhin revolted against Putin and the Russian Defence Forces and started withdrawing with an aim to march to Moscow.   Russian Army interfered with the move and in a scuffle,  Wagner's 30 men were killed. Seeing the situation getting worsened, Belarus's President intervened and offered protection in Belarus This defused the situation Prigozhin said: "We started our march because of an injustice. We wanted to demonstrate our protest and not to overthrow power in the country," Prigozhin said in an audio message, Al Jazeera reported. Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin on Monday said the purpose of the march towards Moscow was to stop the destruction of the private military company and "bring to justice those who, through their unprofessional actions, made a huge number of mistakes during the special military operation".

Russia's Ministry of Defence has denied his claim and termed the killing of 30 Wagner men an "information provocation".  After Prigozhin's statement, Putin in a televised address to the nation said the "armed mutiny" by the Wagner group is a "stab in the back", and vowed to punish those who were on the "path of treason" or anyone who takes up arms against the Russian military.
