Question about Attack on Darbar Sahib. I tried to have this conversation in r/Sikhpoltics but mods there censors my comments. Posting this here admin allows to have free conversion about this issue which is the most tragic event in modern Sikh history. The most unfortunate event in modern Sikh history is Attack on Akal Takht, which led to more unfortunate events in History of Punjab and India. The effect of that cannot be undone. The more serious this is, the actual reason for this is less clear; What was the reason to use Akal Takht as a residential place? Jarnial Singh was aware that may army will come to capture him as He mentioned is speaking while challenging the forces "If they come, they would have big casualties, They will not capture me alive only my dead body they get" Was it all about him? I find this hard to believe. Or his wanted the Army to attack Akal Takhat so that he could impose his ideas on the entire Sikh Panth like Ajmar Singh said in of his video ‘may his thought if army attack the darbar Sahib it make Sikh relized they are on safe in India. Whenever it was asked why Jarnial Singh was in the Akal Takhat, his supporters would reply ‘Attack was Pre planned. There were many such claims found on the internet. There is a video in which, Attack was planned 8 years before 1984. A statement popular of General Sinha is there which is the basis of this claim "The army action was not a last resort as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi would have us believe. It had been in her mind for more than 18 months. The army had begun rehearsals of a commando attack near Chakrata Cantonment in the Doon Valley, where a complete replica of the Golden Temple complex had been built." But I do not find any proper source of this. even when It is searched with the keyword ("Lt-General S.K. Sinha of the Indian Army, Spokesman p28-29") that is proved with a statement. However, If this is being saying on such a large level, I believe there is some truth in it. Kindly provide a source where General Sinha said this. Best source about Chakrata is on White Paper SGPC but still it does not verify this 18 months claim. Following from that "A British correspondent of the ‘SundayTimes’, London, noted : "Last week’s assault on the Golden Temple took place after months of preparation by the Indian army, which included advice from British experts in counter-insurgency. Sources in Delhi say that two officers of the Indian secret service, Gary Saxcna and R.N. Kao, of the Research and Analysis wing made several trips to London to seek expertise. The Indian government then selected 600 men from different units and sent them to rehe{censored} the assault on a life size replica of the Golden Temple, built at a secret training camp in the Chakrata Hills, about 150 miles north of Delhi. The assault troops were alerted to invade the Temple no fewer than five times during the past three months, but each time Mrs. Gandhi vetoed the invasion. A case of nerves’, according to a senior aide”. Gary Saxena was later elevated to the rank of Governor in Jammu and Kashmir." but there is no mention of it, If it was mentioned 18 months before. The question is here why some people try to defend a man who is responsible for dark era in Sikh history. For them Sant Before Panth.
