NEW YORK: American Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee has taken serious exception to the conduct of the Akali Dal government in Punjab towards the Sikh issues and has vowed not to allow the overt or covert designs of the Akali Dal (Badal), BJP and other communal Hindutva elements.
The AGPC also condemned the arrest of Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) Chairperson Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu and other associates, the raids on the offices of the party and the Sikh Shadat magazine and demanded immediate release of the arrested leaders. It also asked to put a stop to the spree of arrests in Punjab.
The AGPC top brass met and drafted three reslotutions which were sent to many gurdwaras across the United States and were endorsed by a large number of gurdwaras.
In the first resolution, the efforts of the SGPC to change the doors of the Darshani Deodi were condemned. Serious note was taken of the initial statements emerging from the SGPC that with the passage of time, it was becoming difficult to maintain and repair the doors that once belonged to the Somnath Mandir, and the that the SGPC was ready to change the doors.
The Resolution said at no cost should the doors be allowed to be changed or shifted.
In the second Resolution, the arrest of Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu and others who were aggressively and resolutely fighting against the Deravad in Punjab and the Sirsa based fraudster dera, and were doing so as per the edict of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, was condemned. The raids on the offices of the Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) and Shahadat Magazine and the arrests of many Sikh youth across Punjab also came in for strong condemnation.
The Resolution said the Sikh sangat will be forced to launch a large scale agitation if such excesses were not stopped.
The third Resolution condemned the police security being provided to Nam Charchas of Dera Sirsa followers.
The Gurdwaras which have so far endorsed all the three Resolutions include:
