Sikh American Activist, Harmeet K. Dhillon, to be Honored at the National Gala

Veteran Sikh civil rights attorney and political activist Harmeet Kaur Dhillon’s career has encompassed many areas of corporate, civil rights, human rights and political law. She is also a frequent print, radio and television commentator on political and public policy issues. She authored a chapter on her nearly two decades of civil rights work for the Sikh and South Asian communities in “Civil Rights in Wartime”. After 9/11, Harmeet served on the board of the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California, helping the organization effect policy on behalf of Sikh discrimination victims.
Harmeet has opened many doors for Sikh Americans in the political world on the West Coast. She made history this year by becoming the first woman, and first Asian American, to be elected to the position of Vice Chairman of the California Republican Party.
She has donated thousands of hours of her time to Sikh legal causes, ranging from helping organizations achieve nonprofit status and incorporate, to representing Sikh plaintiffs in civil rights and employment litigation in state and federal court and administrative proceedings. Harmeet’s litigation firm based in San Francisco, California – Dhillon & Smith LLP – presently represents several Sikh plaintiffs.
