[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Ludhiana, September, 20:[/font] [font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]WITH the election of new president for the SGPC just around the corner, the orders given out by Alwinderpal Singh Pakhoke, acting president of the Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on the ongoing students agitation of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College may not hold for long. The ballot for electing the new SGPC is to be cast on September 23 and it will depend on the new president whether to go ahead with this order. After receiving a complaint from the students, Pakhoke had ordered the suspension of Prof J.N. Jha who, according to the students, had allegedly slapped Akaljot Singh, a third year student of electrical engineering. Besides, Pakhoke has also constituted a three-member committee comprising SGPC members like Gurmel Singh Sangowal, Harsurinder Singh Gill and Sukhvinder Singh Jhabal, to conduct an inquiry into the role of college principal R.P. Singh in handling the entire matter.
