Ex serviceman Mohinder Singh has been killed by thugs in New Jersey, whilst in service, Mohinder was awarded several gallantry medals for his bravery while serving in Siachin Glacier with the Sikh Regiment.
Modinder Singh’s wife applied for a visa to attend his funeral to perform the last rights, her application has been refused.
Mohinder’s widow Paramjit Kaur said she is unable to join her husband as she has not been granted visa by the embassy, but had re-applied when her husband died
Mohinder Singh’s, brother Jagtar, told media how devastated the family are at this refusal by the embassy. “The embassy staff told us that the visa could not be issued before six months,” he said Jagtar Singh
In a desperate attempt to speed up the process Jagtar added that they had also written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but were yet to receive a reply.
Mohinder Singh had left the army in 2001 and gone to New Jersey where he ran three grocery shops, he was killed in one of them during a robbery.
