Re: Sikh...Islam...
Veer
When I have time I will find the exact quote by the Jesuit who wrote his account in a letter to the Vatican in September of the year when Argan dev was martyred. Not making this up. Anyway, here is the account of Bhai Gurdas ji
As fishes are at one with the waves of the river
So was the Guru immersed in the River that is the Lord:
As the moth merges itself at sight into the flame,
So, was the Guru’s light merged with the Divine Light
In the extremest hours of suffering he was aware of nothing but the Divine Word
Like the deer who hears no sound but the ringing of the hunter’s bell.
Like the humming-bee who is wrapped inside the lotus flower,
He passed the night of his life as in a casket of bliss;
Never did he forget to utter the Lord’s word,
To the man of God joy is the fruit of devotion and meditation
With equanimity in holy company.
May I be a sacrifice unto this Guru Arjan.
not smiling like a cheshire cat (with all due respect).: Veer, How did you come up with this interpretation of my remarks? At least you have a funny bone!
You are either innocently or deliberately persisting with a zany interpretation of my comments. I hope you are not suffering from an all too common and unfortunate tendency of scholastics to distance the reality of God from the immediate experience of God in the lives of ordinary people. This is what happens whenever we try to explain what God is instead of describing how God works in our lives. Having an intellectual perspective is necessary in order to understand the concepts we use in ordinary speech. The intellectual perspective however gets in the way of personal encounter. You are a Sufi-- so why shy away from your experience of God's bliss? God is cheerful -take it or leave it.
Stay in Chardi Kala. Perhaps God does grin like the Cheshire Cat from time to time. How can we be certain?
