Also I think we have a tendency amongst the panth to look at and place at the forefront of our largely 'imagined past' through the militaristic experiences of the panth at the expense of the artistic, metaphysical, philosophical traditions. Speaking recently with a doyen of the gurmat sangeet tradition who has links going back to Guru sahib times on this subject and he reminded me that first came the rabab and only after dashmesh pita came the formalisation of the kirpan.. Who himself had a highlighted the kirpan can only be used justified and understood after all the other things are appreciatedI tend to agree. The best source for confirming the resources for these stories would be Dr. Udoke himself...
