July 15, 2010 - Want an easy way to quickly introduce people to our community? "The Sikhs" brochure provides an overview of the Gurus, Guru Granth Sahib, articles of faith and core Sikh beliefs. Through the generous support of the Munshi Bishan Kochhar Foundation [ http://www.mbskfoundation.org/ ] over the past 6 years, the Coalition has distributed almost 20,000 "The Sikhs" brochures in 7 languages.
Here's how some sangat members are educating their local communities about Sikhs using these brochures.
Hartej Singh from Buena Park, CA requested 'The Sikhs' brochures because he owns a fast food restaurant. His customers are always inquiring about Sikhs, so he was able to give them some quick, easy to read material about his faith.
A middle school counselor from Hillside, NJ used 'The Sikhs' brochures to distribute to her classes when she does presentations on Sikhism and other world faiths. The information in the brochures is easy for Middle and High School students to understand.
Ms. Kaur from Miami, FL wanted to keep 'The Sikhs' brochures at her local gurudwara so that she can distribute them to any non-Sikhs that come to visit.
'The Sikhs' brochure is now available in English, Spanish, Turkish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Chinese.
To obtain free copies of the English or Spanish version of "The Sikhs" brochure, send an email to education@sikhcoalition.org [ mailto:education@sikhcoalition.org?subject='The%20Sikhs'%20Brochure%20Request ] with the following information:
