ਗਰੀਬੀ ਗਦਾ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
ਗਰੀਬੀ = ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ-ਸੁਭਾਉ। ਗਦਾ = ਗੁਰਜ।
Humility is considered as Gadda(weapon) by Guru ji. its difficult to define "Gareebi" ,and even harder to keep it inside everytime. Gareebi is like not letting the ego take control , in fact its opposite of the "ego" nature. Like instead of dancing to your own ego , you belittle yourself to a mere instrument and act as a divine lowly servant. So , everytime a situation arises when the ego has a chance to jump up in pride , this Gadda of Gareebi hits it straights on head and dumps it below ground level , where it is supposed to be.
ਖੰਨਾ ਸਗਲ ਰੇਨੁ ਛਾਰੀ ॥
ਖੰਨਾ = ਖੰਡਾ। ਰੇਨੁ = ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ। ਛਾਰੀ = ਛਾਰ, ਮਿੱਟੀ।
Sagal Ren , it means being dust of all feet. Which means that we consider ourselves low to everyone , this is a Gurparsaad thing
which can be experienced when you come at receiving end to all creation and see everything coming from Waheguru ji and accept it gracefully the way it comes. it means coming in amicable and loving terms with everyone and consider them doing as per Hukam and appreciating it.when it comes , the symptom is you don't say "Why How Who Where When" , you just say "Waheguru".
this was the reason we generally use "Waheguru" to address everyone in Sangat , because ultimately its Waheguru we are interacting with all the time.
ਇਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕੋ ਨ ਟਿਕੈ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥
ਨ ਟਿਕੈ = ਖਲੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਠਹਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਵੇਕਾਰੀ = ਕੁਕਰਮੀ।
If you have these virtues, no physical , spiritual enemy can beat you .
Physical Enemy : If he has a heart , he will get ashamed of himself or correct himself seeing your kind , humble nature . if he doesn't do that , whatever negative intention/action he comes up with will reflect back upon him(action/reaction) as per laws of nature and he will suffer himself.
Spiritual Enemy : Anger comes as a consequence when a ego purpose isn't met. Greed comes when we get lured for more , which again has a root with ego , the cure is contentment. Attachment also refers to labeling things,people as "mine" and then trying to make them run or expect them to run as per your will(EGO).Ahankaar gets killed directly. Kaam is left , but in all this ,even our own body is an instrument. so turning to Gareebi , will make it helpless , and then becoming Sagal Ren (which also includes our body) will force the positive energy come through and help you overcome this Vikaar. In fact you will appreciate that you can never loose if your humble(Gurmat) at all times . When Gareebi goes away , Haumai comes in, its only then the stage is set , and the five thieves come and loot. if the righteous humble nature is kept , no vikaar has a chance.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਏਹ ਗਲ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
ਸਾਰੀ = ਸਮਝਾਈ

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਓਟਾ ॥
ਓਟਾ = ਆਸਰਾ।
Now we have abandoned all ego-related things,how does our mind-body system run now , it now will run on the pure remembrance , which it was before but we could not make it , now remembrance of truth and re-enforcing of mind with Gurmat will be our lone support. Har Har Naam is basically generalizing all our world and ourselves into "One" Waheguru and thus kills duality and sustains everlasting peace.
ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੋਟਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਗਤਿ = ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ। ਉਧਰਹਿ = (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕੋਟਾ = ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Har Har Naam is basically generalizing all our world and ourselves into "One" Waheguru and thus kills duality and sustains everlasting peace. so who ever meditated on Naam Simran , or Naam , Gurmat , knows this.
ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
ਸੰਗਿ = ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ। ਜਸੁ = ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ।
Then the sole work becomes of singing the praises of "One" in the company of true Saints and their true Updesh(Gurbani)
ਇਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
What wealth we obtain is infinite , which is of Naam and seeing it grow and prosper gives immense and steady peace. and keeps all worries and dilemmas at bay.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥
ਆਪੁ = ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ।
But the way to obtain all this is to "finish" ourselves , which is to end the way of life which is not Gurmat(not right) and start living as per divine will. to leave the existing nature of mind's ego and coming into Kartaar's Hukam.
ਸਭੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੮੦॥
ਸਭੁ = ਹਰ ਥਾਂ। ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ = ਦਿੱਸਿਆ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੮੦॥
This is the way we merge into Waheguru ji, when we change and tune our mind purely to Guru's teaching , the Lord comes all by himself and abides inside.
