SWAN is a non-profit women’s organization affiliated with the Ministry Of Women. Community And Development, hence its focus is the upliftment of women in society and is the only national Sikh women’s organization in Malaysia that was duly registered as a society on 30th April 2004. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life of Malaysian Sikh women and their families. Our main objective is to empower women to build happy and dynamic families ready to face the challenges of globalization through harmonious and holistic development programmes.
SWAN recognizes that woman is the pillar of society, hence our programmes and activities not only cater for the healthy development of women, but also their families and the community. SWAN has been conducting women, family and community development projects since its inception in 2001. We work closely with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development Malaysia on various capacity building and other programmes that are in line with our objectives. We are also affiliated to both the National Council of Women Organizations (NCWO) and the Caucus of Malaysian Indian Women Leaders.
WE are confident that our combined strength, expertise, dedication, support, cooperation and diversity of experiences will yield positive results and greatly benefit our women, their families and the community as a whole. Let us all join hands in nurturing Malaysian Sikh women – when we nurture a women, we not only nurture an individual, we enrich her family and the entire community.
