It definitly isn't a he with a pointy finger and a beard. And he hasn't left a message on the answering machine. There are so many religions because religion is a construct of humanity. Just as there are countless cultures there are countless religions because we relate to the world in different ways courtesy of our nurturing. It is also a great unifier and motivator of people, for good reasons or bad ones, often for conquest, opression, control, but sometimes for liberation.
