India Young Couple Killed For Honour In Delhi

In a case of honour killing, a 19-year old girl and her boyfriend were tortured for hours before being finally put to death by electrocution at the northwest Delhi [ Images ] residence of her uncle on Monday.

Asha Saini and Yogesh Kumar were brutally beaten up and finally put to death by electrocution at her uncle's place where she had been staying for the last one month, a senior police official said.

The girl's family was opposed to the match, he said.

Asha and Yogesh (21) were found dead with multiple stab injuries in the house on street no 3 of Swaroop Nagar area this morning, police said.

The girl's uncle and other members of his family are untraceable since the incident, which came to light after neighbours informed the police on seeing the bodies on the premises of the house, they said.

"The bodies have been sent for a post mortem. Prima facie it appears to be a case of honour killing as the girl had an affair with Yogesh. We are investigating the case," a senior police official said.

Both Asha and Yogesh are residents of Gukulpuri area.
She had come to meet her relatives in Swaroop Nagar when the incident took place, he added.

What is so sorrowful in so many of these storied. The girl is somehow lured/convinced to visit "relatives." In Canada, the lure is to go to India for a wedding. In this story she visits relatives. Then the deed takes place. As this story unfolds we may find that thugs were hired to do the job. Just as in some recent stories thugs were hired to stage an automobile accident. God help them.

You are party to honour killings: Court to Cops

The Delhi High Court on Thursday slammed the police for its failure to protect people from ‘honour’ killings in the capital, saying that they “connive” with the families for money.

“You can search the entire city if your boss’ dog is lost but you can’t provide protection to people. This is what you are,” the court said.

The observation was made in an apparent reference to an incident involving a Delhi police commissioner’s dog going missing in March 2008 and massive hunt launched by the police.

Vacation judge Justice S.N. Dhingra also came down heavily on the police for converting matters relating to girl’s elopement into rape cases to send the boy behind bars.

“Your police are party to all cases of honour killings. You connive with parents and turn your face the other side. You send boys behind bars on rape charges and allow the parents to kill their daughter,” the court said.

The court passed the observation when Delhi High Court Legal Services Aid Authority pointed out a recent case in which a man was sent to jail for eloping with a girl. Her parents had lodged a rape case against the man.

The court pulled up the police for its role in the case and directed it to produce the youth before it to decide the fate of the couple.
