Rasna means to become saturated/immersed with “Rass”(Naam Rass). Rasna is usually associated with the speech of a saintly person because his speech has become saturated with “Naam”. When he speaks, he speaks the truth. He speaks the language of the Guru. He thus becomes “Gurmukh”.

What recognizes the "taste"?

rasanaa ?

or is it the "medium" ?

Recognising the “taste” is a personal experience. The more experience you have of reciting Naam the taste will be different. It is a question that can only be experienced but not told.

It can be described as a medium. The “rass” one will get reciting “Ram” will be different from “Waheguru”. Again experience and discover.

Quote “Rasanaa tu anras raach rahi......

there is a shabd

Ė rasnā ṯū an ras rācẖ rahī ṯėrī pi*ās na jā*ė.
O my tongue, you are getting engrossed in other tastes, but your thirsty desire is not being quenched.

So rasanaa can "create" bitter/unsavoury things ?
Can Tongue "Create"”

Yes rasna can create bitter/unsavoury things. Speaking foul, lies etc are all bitter/unsavoury qualities of the same tongue. When the same tongue speaks of righteousness, Naam, praise of the Lord then the same tongue becomes sweet.

I highly value your understanding of Gurbani; however, in the above explanation, you are using "rasna" only in context of Naam ras, Guru ji is pointing out" eh Rasna you are busy in other "ras" than "real ras Nam". Obviously "rasna "is used as tongue which is busy in other talks and singing( not in Nam Ras), and it is asked by Guru ji to involve in real ras"Naam". Amarsanghera is asking a question if tongue can"rach"(create) some thing. In a away your interpretation is fine but "rasna" is not used here only being "rachi"(emmersed) in Naam. Actually Guru ji inspires to make rasna to "rach" in real ras" Naam"
Thanks.

Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakaal!
Dear all and Amarsanghera Jee!

Quote "what is Rasna?"
The common meaning of Rasnaa is tongue. Through tongue one speaks or receives tastes.
The spiritual meaning of Rasnaa evolves with the growth of consciousness. For example in this true Guru's Vaak Gurdev is singing.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨੀਰਿ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥
नामु निरंजनु नीरि नराइण ॥
Nām niranjan nīr narā*iṇ.

ਰਸਨਾ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਲਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
रसना सिमरत पाप बिलाइण ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Rasnā simraṯ pāp bilā*iṇ. ||1|| rahā*o. SGGS Ang 867

Rasnaa means without Ras. That is Ras+naa.
Most people remember God because they need something and expect help from HIM. Doing Simran without any expectation belongs to the art of Sikh living. One learns it while receiving true Naam Simran. No one can learn it by himself.

Quote from Randip Singh Jee "What has 'hell' got to do with Sikhism?"
The true Sikh does not go to Narak as he accompanies following His Sabad Guru. Others live experiencing Narak.

Quote "Is 'hell' a physical place?"
Experiencing sufferings and blockages in existence is Narak. It may be in surroundings, body or mind of a Jeev.

Questions from Gyani Jarnail Singh Jee are "The opposite of Narak is...Swarag ?? Does the Shabad GurVaak say anything about How to Get to Swarag ??.... if we dont enter Narak..do we than automatically enter swarag ?? swarag si not even mentioned ..."
Narak and Surag are parts of the dual world. One receives Narak or Surag according to his karmas remaining the part of duality.
Simran of the Naam Naraa-in leads one beyond duality.

Please listen. Gurdev is singing.
Nārā*iṇ nah simri*o mohi*o su*āḏ bikār.

Nānak nām bisāri*ai narak surag avṯār. ||9|| SGGS Ang 298
