The linked article is titled "Parallel Parkash: An Analysis of the Evidence Presented in Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Sikh History" by Dr. Dapinder Singh (U.K.)

Key Points from the Article:

  1. Supremacy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib:
    • Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the eternal Guru of the Sikhs, appointed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
    • No other Granth, including Sri Dasam Granth, can hold the same status.
  2. Historical Context:
    • Guru Gobind Singh Ji explicitly gave Guruship to Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
    • Guru Gobind Singh’s bani (writings) were intentionally kept separate from the Aad Granth (Sri Guru Granth Sahib).
  3. No Parallel Authority:
    • Throughout Sikh history, no other Granth was ever enthroned or given ceremonial symbols (Takht, Chaur, and Canopy) alongside Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
    • Parallel Parkash is described as a recent innovation, not an established historical practice.
  4. Scriptural Evidence:
    • Quotes from Sri Guru Granth Sahib emphasize the singularity of the Guru and reject any parallel authority.
    • Historical Sikh scholars like Bhai Mani Singh, Bhai Nand Lal, and Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha also rejected parallel Parkash.
  5. Modern Practices at Takhts:
    • Practices at places like Takht Patna Sahib and Hazoor Sahib, where parallel parkash is seen, are described as deviations introduced under historical and political influences.
  6. Clarifications on Respect for Sri Dasam Granth:
    • While Sri Dasam Granth contains Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s bani and must be respected, it does not hold the status of Guru.
    • It can be placed respectfully on a separate platform for recitation, but not in parallel with Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
  7. Conclusion:
    • Parallel parkash is against Gurmat (Guru’s teachings) and Sikh tradition.
    • Sikhs are encouraged to uphold the supremacy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and avoid practices that undermine its authority.
The article is thorough in its approach, citing historical records, scriptural references, and Sikh Rehatnamas (codes of conduct) to make its argument.

Sikhi have never been a path of believing in a book , worshipping it .. its based on the concept of Living Guru - Sikh relationship .The modern sikhism as we see today is very different from what it could have been seen in Gurus time

For your kind information, the Granth, honored as Guru is bestowed Guruship by last human Guru in 1708. Its not worshipped like an idol but worshipped as its the ocean of divine knowledge. Why Sikhs shouldn't worship their Guru if its in the form of a book and when it leads Sikh religion for the last 300 years?

The writings of Gyani Gyan Singh introduces us with authenticated Sikh history. I found evidence of Guru Nanak's Visit in Sikkim only in Tawarikh Guru Khalsa.
Alcohol is consumed by Sikhs, it can't be denied. When meat is permitted in Sikh religion, alcohol consumption can never be stopped or questioned.
Though I found three hymns in Guru granth Sahib ji where alcohol consumption is objected but Guru Granth Sahib also bars Sikhs to eat meat which was again permitted by 10th master. Its natural that use of alcohol added with time.

Sikhs had ten Gurus in physical form spanning
across a period 280 years ... Never in that period a Granth was considered bigger than a living Guru nor there was any printing press .. the word guru coming in the shabad was for a living Guru ..

Wrong, it seems either you are unaware of Sikh history or deliberately ignore it. 5th Guru Composed it and than he enlightened the Pothi (Granth) in Darbar Sahib, it was carried over head by Baba Budha ji and Guru ji himself did the chawar sewa. 1st hukamnama was also taken by Baba Budha ji. The hukamnama was ---SANTAN KE KAARAJ AAO KHALOIA HAR KAM KARAWAN AAIA RAAM !!
The sakhi doesn't end here. The Guru ji used to sleep on floor inside Akal Takhat but the Pothi was placed on a high platform called takhat with full honor. It was taken to Darbar Sahib daily in a procession as customary and practiced even today.
It proves the importance of Granth in Sikh religion was already there since its compilation.
How it was bestowed as guru, is another story to be told.

Really.. you mean to say that historicaly that gurus did not exist in human forms ..

5th Guru Composed it and than he enlightened the Pothi (Granth) in Darbar Sahib
Pothi (Updesh) is the creation and fifth guru (physical form) is the creator(updeshta)

So logically creation cant be greater than its creator.

How it was bestowed as guru, is another story to be told.
This important story is not to be found in Adi Granth maybe guru did not have time or ran out of pages ..
