Rehras Sahib - II interpretation!

Sat SriAkal Sikhi jee!!

Please forgive my ignorance I am a new Sikh!!


I've posted a pick of the English translation for Rehras Sahib.

The interpretation in the photo didn't satisfy me!

Duk Daroo Suk Rog Bhaeiaa, Jaa Suk Thamm na hoee!!

What translation i take from this, knowing i am referring to Punjabi and this is Gurmukhi!
Please help provide your translation to this verse. If you feel my interpretation is incorrect!

(By the way I am not a drinker! But I am Canadian. For us no drinking means at once to 1-5 times per year)

DUK Daroo!

Pain, drinking of alcohol to appease your pain!
Duk - Pain
Daroo- alcohol

Suk Rog Bhaeiaa. - meaning it will stop your enlightenment!!
Suk- enlightenment
Rog Bhaeiaa - Stopped.

Jaa Suk Thamm na hoee!!
Meaning Where there is pleasure based enlightenment there is no need for anything else!


Please for give this ignorant question!!

In this case it mean in my understanding. Its ok to Drink. But to drink to appease your pain will cease your enlightenment!!


We have many of our veers who are lost to Drugs and alcohol!! Immediately having a interpretation oh it is sin..
I am.sinner forget even thinking of Sikhi.. I drink here and there with friends its social xyz..

Which then pushes them to the dark side!!

So please forgive this ignorant topic

So your saying Daroo means Medicine in Gurmukhi??

I'm pretty sure Daroo refers to daroo -sharab? As it is Referred to Punjabi!

If dukh is daroo that means you have already taken alcohol when you are dukhi. So no need of more daroo when you are dukhi. You already have had it

yes I agree if you are Dukhi no need for more Daroo!!

My question pertains to if you are not Dukhi!.

Dukh is pain! Daroo is Alchohol!
