AMRITSAR: Director General Schools Krishan Kumar of Punjab Government department of Education along with other officials including Joginder Singh, Parkash Singh, Jasbir Singh and Ashok Kumar here Thursday appeared before Sikh High priest Jatehdar Gyani Gurbachan Singh of Akal Takht (highest Sikh temporal seat) to seek apology for publishing controversial remarks related to Sikh religion in primary level syllabus book “Gyan Sarovar”.
On being appeared at Akal Takht Punjab Schools officials led by DGS Krishan Kumar humbly urged for apology and told Jatehdar that all the books which were earlier distributed in all the schools of Punjab were withdrawn.
Krishan Kumar further stated that fresh publication of books with edited matter being published and in future such mistakes would never be repeated.
After hearing the DGS Krishan Kumar, Jatehdar exonerated the officials and told them in future, officials should take care of the sentiments of Sikh community when they publish syllabus books for students studying in the Government schools.
Jatehdar in statement to media informed that now the matter of “Gyan Sarovar” book stands finished with the apology of Education department of Punjab Government and should not be dragged any more.
Talking to media persons, Jathedar also issued warning to famous Bollywood actor and director and member Parliament Raj Babbar who recently released Film on famous Sikh Emperor and warrior Maharaja Ranjit Singh wherein clashes between Muslims and Sikh community were depicted. Jatehdar said that such things would create differences between the two communities; hence the telecast of this film should be stopped forthwith.
