wait let me get this right, your telling me that your mission in life is to preach and educate the masses and bring about a change in all of Punjab?

i just Use gurbani to make people educated.... for many years DHONGIS have done the same thing, picking up lines that will be suitable to fool people. SO im using the same thing, picking verses to Educate them same people.... I think we should learn something from DHONGIS.....

yet in our discourses, you often have no answer, or fail to answer, how can you possibly educate others when your own education is clearly lacking?

personally, i Think at least they would teach their next generation to not to repeat same mistakes that they had done all their life.
and whats bad in that ? Guru Amar das met Guru Angad first time when Guru Amar Das ji was 60 years Old... age is just a number..... its about how you influence your coming generation.

Your replies portray you as almost the next Nanak, yet you come on to this forum asking basic questions and seeking advice, I am all for helping anyone, but I think in the Punjab of your dreams it would be a Nazi like nightmare, with religious police putting Bani on walls, and executing those that did not follow the official line, I hope you never achieve your dream.

well you do have an agenda, your agenda is to stand in front of people and educate them, to be listened to, you have already said this, and your methods of education are pasting verses so that they can be seen by people who are doing it the wrong way, I do not pre assume anything but there is enough in your writings to see where this will end up, to you, its service and Sikhism, to me its just ego, all of it, I would not mind if you had some salient points to impress on the world, but you don't, I guess you will be able to get your own red light and {censored} all the females, well good luck to you

I am not a Sikh in the same vein as you, I am older, I have lived, not everything is dealt with by quoting religious scripts, SGGS gives you the tools to broaden your mind, it is not something that is printed out and waved about to further ones ego.

Whatever understanding I have I have come to myself, there would be no point in relying on anothers understanding, my understanding may well be flawed, but as I do not intend to preach it to anyone, that is my problem and my problem alone, if your understanding is flawed, not that it is actually your own understanding, then its a big problem, because you preach

i know many people interpret some topics differently.... so whenever i come across something so fascinating, i come to this forum cuz TO me all of you guys have great knowledge. i dont know where else can i ask questions. My parents dont have any knowledge regarding Bani..... This is a learning curve... How else do you think anyone can learn anything without exchanging few dialogues.

Believe me, That is my ultimate moto currently, But i Think people dont generally listen to any Stranger holding banners, at least not in punjab,.For that I'm currently focusing on building my career and creating my own Identity in the society so that evrybody will listen to me when i speak ( Hope this comes true ). Need to do something that people gives me STAGE to speak .... thats the only way i can Spread Guru nanak's message, at least among Sikhs.


ok, so here's what i do, whenever my parents do something that is totally against SGGS's philosophy, and call themselves sikhs, and if i remember that SGGS has some verses that speaks against that particular thing that my Parents are doing......... then whats i do is, i Print those VERSES of Gurbani ( WHOLE VERSES, NOT LINES ) and i paste it on kitchen's Cabinets..... and about authority, its not that im making up things and telling them..... im just showing them Gurbani..........

Please allow me to make an observation. Without taking sides in this discussion, I remind you both that, as our understanding of Gurbani grows, so do our interpretations of it. What a shabad means to me today will not be the same as what it will mean to me when I am farther along the path. This is one reason why it is useful to do nitnem daily. Same prayers, but not always the same meaning. I blush to think of some of my interpretations five years ago, or even one year.
So I suggest not being dogmatic. Give yourself room to grow and blossom.

I am all for growing and blossoming, your post does however lean towards the fact that we should not correct or teach others, it is a huge responsibility to tell another you are so sure of your understanding and knowledge that you wish to impose it on others, life is for growing and discovering in our own time, in our own way

Would it really be so hard to preface a "correcting" comment with something like, "it is my understanding that..."

That allows for both teaching and growing. It not only holds open that possibility that I may grow in knowledge and understanding but also shows a wee bit of humility.

Of course, if I truly believe that I am right in my opinion and no amount of growth could change that, I suppose humility is a moot point.
